Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Helping Your Recovery with Comfort and Dignity
Solstice is one of the only drug and alcohol centers in the DFW region to offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as part of our innovative program. Here, our priority is that you are seen, known, celebrated. For that reason, we like to refer to this care as Medication Assisted Recovery, rather than Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). Integrative psychiatry is about treating the whole person so self-regulation and connection increase more quickly. Recovery is all about connection. Medication support is indispensable, especially in the beginning, but to get to the point of really living, feeling and changing, you need more than an opiate blocker like buprenorphine or naltrexone. You need community: group work, education, fun, psychiatric medicine, nutritional care and ongoing screening and assessment. You deserve comprehensive treatment. Living, learning and feeling starts at Solstice with Partial Hospitalization. While everyone is unique, you can plan that Medication Assisted Recovery will take you 3-5 weeks. In that time, we will treat behavior patterns, withdrawal side effects, cravings, triggers, urges, cues while creating a relapse prevention plan that includes goals and relief around your physical, spiritual, mental, social, emotional and environmental needs. Everyday, we aggressively rise up against suicide, overdose and treatment resistant depression. There is just too much life to be lived.
Vivitrol (Naltrexone) for Opioid Use Disorder
Another safe and effective mechanism to protect opioid relapse and overdose is Vivitrol, which is an injectable form of Naltrexone that lasts for about 30 days. Vivitrol prevents opioids from binding to opioid receptors in the brain, which can help with curbing urges or cravings for use, but more importantly prevent use or abuse of opioids. Vivitrol also has a psychological component that helps individuals and families feel safe from impulsive or reckless decisions. This is a suitable option for someone with a history of opioid abuse who is currently sober and wants a cushion of protection from their past life and urges that may arise.
A state-of-the-art evidenced-based treatment option, MAT has been fully researched and widely implemented by medical professionals Nationwide. Many professionals who use MAT believe it to be a life-saving, effective approach to help people who struggle with severe, long-term substance dependence and repeated relapse. Our medical professionals provide a path that is more comfortable than inpatient care and more comprehensive than what the average doctor will do.
Medication Assisted Recovery for you might include comfort medication, but you can count on it including coping skills to improve mood, cognition and behavior. Our Program is intensive and you will get results. Are you ready?
